| Welcome to F1-Live.com and our live coverage of the Australian Grand Prix weekend. Practice session three begins shortly. |
| 10:52:22
| Yesterday was a pretty mixed affair with Kimi Raikkonen dominating the first 90 minute session with a best lap of 1:26.461s, and Hamilton leading the way in the second session on a 1:26.559s best. |
| 10:54:23
| Friday practice difficult to read as when one driver is working on qualifying settings, another can be working towards race conditions. Raikkonen was unhappy following the second session having set the sixth best time, but again it is not clear what his objective was. |
| 10:56:10
| As ever, it is pretty safe to assume that Ferrari and McLaren are ahead while Red Bull, Renault and Toyota have all shown flashes of speed. BMW Sauber however has yet to show much pace which is a surprise given the pre-season hype from some sections of the press. Today is when it counts however. |
| 10:58:06
| This is the first session to take place in Grand Prix weekend conditions, meaning any engine failure or gearbox failure can have an impact on the starting grid line-up. This year teams are allowed one free engine blow up per car, but also have the new four Grand Prix gearbox issues to grapple with. |
| 11:00:06
| It is sunny again and session three is now underway. Most will have a new engine and gearbox fitted and will therefore return to the pits for checks after an installation lap. |
| 11:00:37
| Nico Rosberg is the first car man on track in his Williams Toyota. |
| 11:00:58
| About half of the field are straight out for an installation lap. |
| 11:02:41
| They are all returning to the pits for checks after an installation lap. |
| 11:03:21
| Ferrari, Honda and McLaren have yet to send their drivers out. |
| 11:04:49
| No one on track. |
| 11:06:25
| Kovalainen, fourth fastest yesterday afternoon, heads out in his McLaren Mercedes. |
| 11:08:25
| A slow installation lap and the Finn returns to the pit. |
| 11:10:57
| Now Anthony Davidson is going out. He was slowest in second practice and Super Aguri have pretty low expectations given their lack of pre-season testing. |
| 11:11:22
| Bourdais is also back out in his Toro Rosso Ferrari. |
| 11:11:39
| Lewis Hamilton is on his installtion lap. |
| 11:12:09
| Trulli, Fisichella and Sutil head out for a second time. |
| 11:13:08
| In practice yesterday most actually found the medium compound Bridgestone to be faster than the soft. An odd situation really, but as the track picks up grip this may change. |
| 11:13:34
| A number of drivers now on first timed laps. |
| 11:14:04
| Bourdais' first lap is three tenths better than his best from second practice yesterday afternoon. |
| 11:15:23
| Nick Heidfeld moves fastest ahead ouf Bourdais only for the Frenchman to improve again and retake the top position. |
| 11:16:21
| Timo Glocks runs wide but is able to continue. |
| 11:16:35
| Kubica moves fastest in his BMW Sauber. |
| 11:16:51
| Massa and Raikkonen are on track. |
| 11:17:13
| Fisichella, fourth, runs wide but is able to continue. |
| 11:17:47
| Massa's first lap moves him sixth. |
| 11:18:17
| Glock is now second fastest in his Toyota behind Kubica. Bourdais and Heidfeld have pitted. |
| 11:19:02
| Rosberg vaults fastest already four tenths up on his Friday time. |
| 11:19:46
| Now Glock moves ahead with Raikkonen slotting into second on his first timed lap. Hamilton and Kovalainen remain in the pits. |
| 11:20:45
| Massa finally gets a clear lap and moves P1 ahead of Glock, Nakajima and Raikkonen. |
| 11:22:10
| Most, if no all, are on the harder medium Bridgestone option at the moment. |
| 11:22:48
| Changes at the top of the timesheets as Rosberg, Raikkonen and Alonso all improve to move one, two, three. |
| 11:23:14
| Alonso, 13th yesterday, starts another faster lap. |
| 11:24:04
| Hamilton heads back out as Alonso improves and is fastest, a second and a half quicker than his Friday afternoon time. |
| 11:24:33
| Mark Webber, second on Friday afternoon, heads out on the soft tyre. |
| 11:24:52
| Hamilton runs off track on his first timed lap. |
| 11:26:55
| Hamilton's first lap was a slow one. Team-mate Kovalainen is now going out. |
| 11:27:21
| Alonso pits after his first stint, Hamilton moves fourth. |
| 11:29:16
| The fastest five have pitted. Massa remains on track but is not improving at the moment. |
| 11:30:12
| Kovalainen moves 16th in the McLaren. A strange look to the times at the moment. |
| 11:31:07
| Piquet, who just moved up to 13th, runs wide in his Renault. |
| 11:31:38
| Jarno Trulli has yet to set a time in his Toyota. He remains in the pits. |
| 11:33:59
| The fastest times are in the region of seven tenths off the best times recorded yesterday at the moment. As the session winds down, most will go for a simulated qualifying lap. |
| 11:34:56
| Vettel moves fifth in his STR Ferrari. |
| 11:37:03
| Fisichella and Heidfeld improve and move into the lower top ten. |
| 11:38:13
| Hamilton and Raikkonen are back out and looking to improve. |
| 11:39:17
| Raikkonen does improve and moves fastest in his Ferrari ahead of Alonso and Rosberg. |
| 11:40:14
| Raikkonen runs wide on this lap and loses time, Hamilton has not improved and remains in fourth position. |
| 11:41:07
| Trulli is back out and looking to record his first timed lap. |
| 11:41:40
| Massa, seventh, is back out. |
| 11:42:16
| Trulli moves tenth on his first timed lap as Massa improves to fourth. |
| 11:42:48
| Coulthard vaults from 22nd to fifth in his RB4. |
| 11:43:37
| Trulli makes up more ground and moves P4 in his Toyota. |
| 11:44:04
| Just a second cover most of the field at the moment. |
| 11:46:52
| Sebastian Vettel moves fastest in what is probably the first qualifying style lap we have seen in this session. |
| 11:47:24
| Team-mate Bourdais moves ninth. |
| 11:47:52
| Now Webber picks up the pace and moves second fastest. |
| 11:48:55
| Fisichella is next to try a smiluated qualifying run and he moves second on the timesheets with the soft tyre. |
| 11:50:45
| Ten minutes remain and there is a strange look to the timesheets with Vettel fastest from Fisichella, Webber and Button! |
| 11:52:26
| Glock and Rosberg on better laps. |
| 11:53:17
| Rosberg does improve as he moves to the head of the timesheets. Most are in the pit ahead of a final push. |
| 11:54:09
| Hamilton heads out for what will be his final stint of the session. |
| 11:55:24
| Hamilton and Trulli starting a timed lap. |
| 11:56:03
| Alonso too is on a hot lap in his Renault. |
| 11:56:28
| Trulli moves fifth, Hamilton seventh. |
| 11:57:09
| Alonso moves fastest, a tenth clear of Rosberg. |
| 11:57:39
| Barrichello runs off track. |
| 11:58:32
| Nakajima has a moment in his Williams, just misses the wall and regains the circuit. |
| 11:59:15
| Now Nick Heidfeld picks up the pace and moves from 18th to first. |
| 12:00:00
| BMW Sauber team-mate Robert Kubica takes over at the top of the timesheets. |
| 12:00:06
| The chequered flag is out. |
| 12:00:26
| A number of drivers on hot laps. |
| 12:00:56
| Coulthard moves fifth fastest. |
| 12:01:43
| Webber slots his Red Bull sixth. |
| 12:02:45
| So we have a very strange look to the timesheets from this session with the BMW Sauber duo of Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld first and second ahead of Alonso. |
| 12:03:22
| Rosberg is fourth ahead of Coulthard, Webber, Button, Vettel, Fisichella and Trulli. |
| 12:03:51
| No McLaren or Ferrari in the top ten and if the grid looks like this, I'll eat my hat! |
