| Ferrari dominated the morning session with Kimi Raikkonen setting the pace on a 1:15.382s best with Felipe Massa just 0.065s slower. The F2007 seemed to gain most of its advantage in the faster first sector of the lap indicating that they may be enjoying a straight-line speed advantage. |

| Fernando Alonso was third fastest in his McLaren Mercedes, nearly eight-tenths off Raikkonen. Team-mate Lewis Hamilton ser the sixth fastest time but lost much of the session with a cooling problem on the MP4-22 which cut the engine. |
